KARACHI: National interim chief selector Shahid Khan Afridi applauded Pakistan team's performance in first ODI of three-match series against New Zealand. 

Pakistan beat New Zealand by six wickets in first ODI to go 1-0 up in the series here at National Bank Cricket Arena (NBCA). 

Taking to Twitter, Afridi praised Babar Azam XI for outclassing New Zealand. 

"Congratulations to Babar and the entire team for an outstanding effort. performance! Today we were well led and outplayed NZ in all departments. Great day for Babar, Naseem, Usama, Haris and Rizwan. Fakhar also gave a good start. Hope we continue the same way in 2nd ODI," he wrote.

Set to chase 256 runs in 50 overs, Pakistan were taken over the victory line with half-century each from Fakhar Zaman, Babar, and Mohammad Rizwan.

Haris Sohail, who was making comeback after almost four years, made worthy 32 off 23 balls.
