KARACHI: Left-handed batter Shan Masood has been named vice-captain of Pakistan's ODI team for New Zealand series.

Shan, who played an ODI against Australia back in 2019, will be returning to white-ball cricket after almost four years.

In absence of regular vice-captain Shadab Khan due to his injury, Shan will be Babar's deputy during home ODI series against New Zealand, starting on January 9.

"Shan Masood has been named vice captain of the men’s side for the three One-Day Internationals against New Zealand because of the unavailability of Shadab Khan, who injured his index finger last week," PCB released a statement.

Shadab returned to Pakistan after getting injured during Big Bash League (BBL). He scored 58 runs and took seven wickets in five matches for Hobart Hurricanes. He missed sixth match due to finger injury.
