PAK vs NZ: Haris Rauf's inclusion in ODI squad depends on Cliffe Deacon's report - sources

Interim selection committee is waiting for report on Rauf's fitness

KARACHI: Pakistan team's physio Cliffe Deacon has been assigned to make a special report on Haris Rauf's fitness before the interim selection committee announces ODI squad for home series against New Zealand. 

Rauf had joined the national Test squad during the ongoing series against New Zealand so that he can continue his rehabilitation under the supervision of team's medical staff. 

According to sources, Rauf's inclusion in the ODI squad will highly depend on Deacon's report. The team physio has been monitoring the fast bowler closely during the training. 

Deacon was spotted so often with Rauf in the nets during the ongoing Test. The right-arm pacer continued bowling during lunch and tea breaks as soon as he joined the team environment. 

Interim selection committee under the leadership of Shahid Khan Afridi was set to announce the 16-member squad today. But, the announcement was delayed till tomorrow because the management is waiting for Deacon's report on Rauf's fitness, sources revealed.

Rauf suffered injury near thigh after he rolled over a ball while fielding in first Test against England in Rawalpindi. He was ruled out of the remaining Test series against the English whereas also missed the ongoing New Zealand Test series. 

He was named among 24 probables for the ODI series.
