KARACHI: Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed thinks that dropped catches during the first innings of the opening Test against New Zealand proved costly for them.
Abrar, who bagged his second fifer in just his third Test since debut earlier this month against England, told reporters after day 4 that the pitch was too dead to bowl on.
"I am sure you watched the match. Pitch wasn't helping us," he said. "Still it's not an excuse. We should have taken wickets at any cost. We also remained unlucky as a couple of catches were dropped and on several occasions ball just fell short of the fielder," he added.
The right-arm spinner bagged five wickets for 205 runs in his 67.5 overs.
Abrar highly praised Kane Williamson who scored his fifth Test double-hundred overall and maiden on Pakistan soil.
"Williamson is an extra ordinary batter. His technique is so perfect that even he takes singles comfortably on good deliveries," he highlighted.
"Pitch was on a slow side, still he made the most of this opportunity and scored a double hundred. You learn a lot while bowling to him," he concluded.
