The FIFA World Cup 2022 victory celebrations of Argentina turned into a mourn as a fan perished after falling from a roof, while a five-year-old is reportedly in a coma in Buenos Aires.
The 24-year-old guy was admitted to a public hospital in Buenos Aires, where, according to reports in La Nacion, he later passed away from a catastrophic brain injury.
He was rushed to the hospital "after a fall from a height, in the context of the massive festivities that occurred in the City of Buenos Aires."
Police officers discovered him unconscious on the third floor of a parking lot on Monday.
"He was jumping on the roof, celebrating the triumph of the National Team, until a plate broke and fell," the police said.
The young man's family provided their version of events in a statement after the news was made public.
The statement read: "he decided to urinate on the side of the highway passing the guardrail and that's when he falsely stepped on an old plastic sheet that served as the roof of the restaurant parking lot and fell."
"He wasn’t drugged, he wasn’t drunk, he just didn’t want to be watched while he urinated. He was a healthy boy, a student and a worker who wanted to go home to have dinner and continue celebrating more calmly."
Meanwhile, a five-year-old child who was celebrating with his family at Plaza San Martn when a chunk of marble fell off the monument and struck him.
He was moved to a hospital, where a severe head injury was verified, necessitating admission to intensive care and putting him in a coma.
It is worth mentioning here that around four million supporters stormed the streets of the capital city to join in on the celebrations.
The mega final of FIFA saw Argentina beat defending champions France by 4-2 on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Lusail Stadium on Sunday.
Lionel Messi's penalty goal for Argentina in the 23rd minute gave Argentina an early advantage. With a goal from Angel Di Maria in the 36th minute, Argentina doubled their advantage and maintained that until the 80th minute.
However, Kylian Mbappe converted a penalty kick to score France's first goal in the 80th minute, and then he added another beautiful goal just one minute later.
Messi scored his second goal of the game as it entered an extra time in the 108th minute, however, Mbappe once more equalised in the 118th with a penalty.
After extra time, the superb match ended in a 3-3 draw, forcing a penalty shootout to determine the champion.
Argentina prevailed in the penalty shootout by a score of 4-2 to win the FIFA World Cup for the third time in their history.
