France forward Kylian Mbappe has said that Les Bleus will return strongly after their loss against Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2022 final at the Lusail Stadium on Sunday.

Mbappe could not have contributed more as he single-handedly helped France end the match in a draw and force the result of the match to be determined on penalties.

Up until the 80th minute, France were down 2-0, then Mbappe scored twice in a span of 97 seconds to force extra time.

Then, after Lionel Messi had given Argentina the lead, he added another goal for France in extra time to tie the score at 3-3.

However, Argentina prevailed 4-2 on penalties and clinched their third-ever FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, Mbappe became only the second player in history after England's Geoff Hurst to score a hat-trick in a FIFA World Cup final.

As the top-scorer of the competition with eight goals, Mbappe was awarded the Golden Boot.

Mbappe took to Twitter and wrote: "Nous reviendrons [We will return]."

With his sensational hattrick, Mbappe achieved a milestone in the mega final.

Mbappe amassed 12 goals in his World Cup career. With the feat, he also became the sixth-highest goal scorer in the FIFA World Cup and also the youngest player to reach the landmark.

The 23-year-old also overtook the record for goals in the FIFA World Cup finals. He's now got four after his hattrick, surpassing Geoff Hurst, Vava, Pele, and Zinedine Zidane, who had three.
