Rahmanullah Gurbaz is picked by Islamabad 

Like Hales, Afghanistan's Gurbaz will also play for Islamabad United next season. Hasan Ali adds that he plays 'Ludo' really well too.

Qalandars eager to defend title

“Rehabilitation is going good, you’ll see me in PSL. We are here to pick best possible players, and hopefully we will get the desired players. We aim to defend our title in the upcoming season,” Lahore Qalandars skipper Shaheen Afridi said during a brief media talk ahead of the draft. 

Retentions

The retentions have already been finalised by the franchises, which were confirmed by the PCB in a press release on November 11.

Like last season, each of the six franchises will have the Right to Match Card that will allow them to select any player released from their roster during the draft.

Pick order

The PCB has already revealed the pick order for the draft, where defending champions Lahore Qalandars will make the first pick.

Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans will have second and third picks. The fourth and fifth picks will be done by Karachi Kings and Islamabad United. Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi will make the sixth pick.

The next 17 rounds were decided through a special statistical tool.

Hello and welcome to the live blog for today’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) Player Draft, which is being held in Karachi.

Ahead of PSL 8, which is scheduled to take place next year from February 9 to March 19 in Karachi, Multan, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, the franchises will look to assemble the best possible squad in a bid to win the elusive trophy.
