England's forward Raheem Sterling joined his team in training session on Friday after returning to Qatar ahead of his side's FIFA World Cup 2022 quarter-final clash against defending champions France on Sunday.

Following a home invasion and return to England, Sterling missed the round of 16 match against Senegal, which England won by 3-0.

The 28-year-old has reunited with the group in Al Wakrah and participated in Friday's practice.

However, head coach Gareth Southgate is unsure if the forward will feature in the high-octane clash against France.

"I haven't had the chance to sit with him yet," said Southgate told BBC.

"He's had two long flights and missed a lot of training with the team. We're going into the level of the game where you need to be fully on it.

"It's great that we've got the option of having him back with us, that he's back with the group, but in terms of involvement for this game, that's a bit more complicated."

According to British media, armed burglars entered Sterling's home on Saturday night while his family was inside.

Surrey Police later clarified that nobody was home at the time of the break-in and that no threats of violence were made.

The Chelsea forward's return has given Southgate more attacking options for the blockbuster clash on Sunday.

England started Harry Kane in the typical centre striker position against Senegal, with Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka on the flanks

Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish are other wide attacking options available to Southgate.
