Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell thinks that he jinxed Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed’s 10-fer during the ongoing second Test against England in Multan.
The mystery spinner, who is making his debut, impressed one and all with his skillful bowling to claim seven wickets in the first innings.
After Abrar claimed his seventh wicket of the innings, Maxwell suggested that the spinner could take a 10-wicket haul.
However, Abrar’s fellow spinner Zahid Mahmood took two wickets in two balls to ensure that the former could not take all 10 wickets in the innings.
It must be noted that only three cricketers have achieved the feat of taking all 10 wickets in an innings. The elusive list includes India’s Anil Kumble, England’s Jim Laker and New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel.
Pakistan dismissed England for 281 in the first innings with Abrar bagging figures of 7-114.
Pakistan are 1-0 down in the three-match series after losing the first Test in Rawalpindi.
It must be noted that England took full advantage of winning the toss — and their batting depth — to win the first Test by 74 runs Monday on a dead wicket that offered nothing to the bowlers.
Rawalpindi yielded 1,768 runs in four innings — the third most in Test history — with seven individual centuries and five fifties.
England are on their first Test tour of Pakistan since 2005, having declined to visit in the interim years on security grounds.
The third and final Test of the series is in Karachi from December 17-21.
