Youth Olympics rescheduled for Dakar 2026

LAUSANNE: The fourth Summer Youth Olympic Games has been rescheduled for October 31, 2026 in Dakar, Senegal the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said on Monday.

The first ever Olympics scheduled for Africa were supposed to take place in 2022 but were delayed due to Covid-19 in a decision taken in 2020.

The Games will run from October 31 to November 13.

"The period was proposed factoring in school and university times to best suit the athletes´ school curriculum, meteorological conditions and other international sports events and celebrations," the IOC said.
