England gathered massive praise after beating Pakistan by 74 runs in a record-breaking win in the first Test of the three-match series at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on Monday.

Jack Leach trapped Naseem Shah for an lbw, helping the touring party bowl out Pakistan for 268 runs in the second innings to secure a win.

Set to chase 343 runs, Pakistan started the fifth and final day on 80-2, but Ollie Robinson and James Anderson claimed four wickets each to end the home team's aspirations.

The whole cricket fraternity heaped praise on the English team for putting on a brave performance to clinch victory in the historic Test.

Here's what they said:

Earlier, England had scored a mammoth 657 runs in the first inning thanks to centuries from Zak Crawly, Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, and Ollie Pope.

In reply, Pakistan responded well as three batters, including Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, and skipper Babar Azam scored a hundred each.

However, the home side were bowled out for 579, trailing by 78 runs.

The visitors then added 264 runs before declaring their second innings, setting Pakistan a 343-run target, but the hosts couldn't chase it down, falling 74 runs short.

The two sides will take on each other in the second Test at the Multan Cricket Stadium from 9-13 December.
