Pakistan beat Iran to win Central Asian Volleyball Championship

LAHORE: Pakistan defeated Iran by 3-1 to claim the Central Asian Volleyball Championship here on Tuesday.

The home side won first two sets by 16-25 and 17-25, respectively. However, Iran rallied back in the third set, winning it by 25-23.

In the fourth set, Pakistan were on song as they clinched it to register title victory.

After a gap of 17 years, the five-nation competition was staged for the first time in Pakistan. The event was held here in the Gymnasium Hall of the Sports Board Punjab.

Apart from Pakistan and Iran, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan participated in the event.

Pakistani fans were quick to notice the national side's dominating win and congratulated them on Twitter.

It must be noted here that Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka in the third place match.
