Cameron make sensational second-half comeback to draw against Serbia

The African side scored twice in a span of two minutes

DOHA: Cameroon made a sensational comeback in the second half to register a draw against Serbia in their FIFA World Cup 2022 Group G clash at the Al Janoub Stadium on Monday.

Vincent Aboubakar starred for the South African side to pull off a thrilling comeback after conceding three goals in the first half.

Coming on as a sub in the 55th minute, the 30-year-old made a quick impact on the game and struck a beautiful goal in the 63rd minute before providing an assist for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting's equaliser in the 66th minute.

Earlier, Jean Charles Castelletto opened the scoring for Cameroon. After which, Serbia dominated the first half as two quick goals from Strahinja Pavlovic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic during a span of three minutes in the stoppage gave the Balkan side a 2-1 goal lead at the end of the opening period.

After five minutes into the second half, Fulham FC striker Aleksander Mitrovic extended Serbia's lead to three goals to one, putting them in the driving seat.

However, the energetic Cameroon side had other ideas as substitute Aboubakar made an immediate impact on the clash, with a goal and an assist in a span of four minutes.

Serbia had lost to Brazil, while Switzerland beat Cameroon in their opening games.

With the draw, the two teams earned a point each after two games as they both lost their first games of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Cameroon will next take on a formidable Brazil side, while Serbia will lock horns with Switzerland in their last group stage games on Saturday, December 3.
