RAWALPINDI: England Test captain Ben Stokes has decided to donate his match fees to the flood victims in Pakistan.

The English side is currently in Pakistan for a three-match Test series, which begins on December 1 in Rawalpindi.

"It is great to be in Pakistan for the first time for this historic series. To be back here after 17 years as a Test side is very exciting. There is a sense of responsibility amongst the playing and support group and to be there is special,” tweeted Stokes.

"The floods that devastated Pakistan earlier this year was very sad to see and has had significant impact on the country and the people.

"The game has given me a lot in my life and I feel it's only right to give something back that goes far beyond cricket. I will be donating my match fees from this Test series to the Pakistan flood appeal.

"Hopefully this donation can go towards the rebuilding of areas of Pakistan most affected by the flooding.”

Legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram also thanked Stokes for this wonderful gesture.

It must be noted that around 3.2 million people have lost their homes and livelihoods and been displaced by the recent flooding in Pakistan.

After the first match in Rawalpindi, which begins on December 1, the second Test moves to Multan starting on Friday, December 9, and the final Test of the tour will take place at the National Stadium in Karachi, commencing on Saturday, December 17.
