Pakistan team starts reaching South Africa for Nations Cup

Pakistan team's visas issue was resolved by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

KARACHI: Pakistan hockey team's first group has reached South Africa to participate in the FIH Nations Cup, scheduled from November 28 to December 4.

According to the details, seven players alongside assistant coach Ayaz Mahmood reached their destination today. 

However, the second group of players and management will travel to South Africa tonight.

Due to visa issue and funds problems, the team was forced to travel to South Africa in phases. 

With the support of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the visas were issued to the players and management. Sindh's provincial minister Nasir Hussain Shah talked to FM Bilawal who ensured timely visas for the national team. 

After the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB)'s assurance, funds issue were resolved.

Pakistan are scheduled to play its first match against South Africa in the Nations Cup on November 28. They will next face Ireland on November 29 and France on December 1.
