Pakistan hockey team gets sponsor for Nations Cup participation

LAHORE: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Tuesday shared that they have got sponsors to send their team to Nation Cup, scheduled from November 28 to December 4 in South Africa. 

In a press release, PHF said that the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) have ensured financial support for Nation Cup. 

"We have got financial support from NBP and PSB for Nation Cup," said PHF's secretary Haider Hussain. "We have applied for visa and waiting now," added Haider. 

Pakistan recently won a bronze medal in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2022 which was their first-ever medal in any event after 11 years. 

While talking about the importance of the upcoming event, Haider said they could have faced the ban. "This tournament was very important to us. Had we not participated in it, we could have faced fine of up to 15000 euros alongside the ban," he said. 

"Now, we will try to field a strong team. This event will us improve our rankings," he concluded.
