Umar Akmal appointed mentor of Quetta Gladiators for PSL 8
The batter was retained by the 2019 champions on Friday
KARACHI: Pakistan batter Umar Akmal has been appointed as a mentor of Quetta Gladiators for the upcoming eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Umar played five matches for the Gladiators in the seventh edition of the PSL, where he amassed 101 runs.
However, the 2019 PSL champions announced that Umar will play the role of a mentor in the eighth edition of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)'s marquee event.
The middle-order batter was retained by Gladiators in the Silver category.
As per PCB, the Governing Council (GC) approved dates for PSL 8. "PSL 8 will run from 9 February to 19 March 2023," the PCB announced via press release in the first week of September.
It must be noted here Umar represented Pakistan in 211 international matches and scored 5,887 runs.
