PSL 8: All six franchises reveal their retained players

Some exciting picks await PSL fans in the players' draft

LAHORE: All six franchises have confirmed their retained players for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8. 

In one of the biggest trades of the tournament, Zalmi roped in Babar in the Platinum category and the first pick in the supplementary round for Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik who move to Karachi Kings in Platinum and Diamond categories, respectively, before the trade and retention window closed on Friday evening.

Here's a complete list of retained players;

Islamabad United: 

Platinum - Shadab Khan, 

Brand Ambassador - Asif Ali 

Diamond - Mohammad Wasim Jnr 

Gold -  Azam Khan, Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Ali 

Silver - Colin Munro and Paul Stirling

Karachi Kings: 

Platinum - Haider Ali

Diamond - Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir and Shoaib Malik 

Silver - Aamir Yamin, Mir Hamza and Sharjeel Khan 

Emerging - Qasim Akram

Lahore Qalandars: 

Platinum - Haris Rauf, Rashid Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi 

Diamond - David Wiese 

Gold - Abdullah Shafique 

Silver - Harry Brook and Kamran Ghulam 

Emerging - Zaman Khan 

Multan Sultans: 

Platinum - Mohammad Rizwan 

Diamond - Khushdil Shah, Rilee Rossouw and Shan Masood 

Brand Ambassador - Shahnawaz Dahani

Gold - Tim David

Emerging - Abbas Afridi and Ihsanullah 

Peshawar Zalmi: 

Platinum - Babar Azam

Diamond - Sherfane Rutherford and Wahab Riaz 

Gold - Mohammad Haris 

Brand Ambassador - Aamir Jamal 

Silver - Salman Irshad and Tom-Kohler Cadmore

Quetta Gladiators:

Platinum - Mohammad Nawaz 

Diamond - Iftikhar Ahmed and Jason Roy 

Gold - Mohammad Hasnain and Sarfaraz Ahmed 

Silver - Naveen ul Haq, Umar Akmal (Mentor) and Will Smeed (Silver)

It must be noted that, during the trade and retention window, a side can assemble up to eight players before the PSL Player Draft, in which it can increase the squad side to 18 players — three each in Platinum, Diamond and Gold categories, five Silver, two Emerging and up to two Supplementary categories.

More details about the PSL 2023 Player Draft, which is likely to take place this month, will be disclosed soon.
