PSL 8: Babar Azam officially joins Peshawar Zalmi

PSL is expected to announce retained players of all six franchises at 8:30pm today

KARACHI: Pakistan's captain in all three formats, Babar Azam left Karachi Kings and joined Peshawar Zalmi, owners of both franchises confirmed on Twitter. 

Taking to Twitter, Zalmi's owner Javed Afridi confirmed that Babar has joined his franchise for the upcoming eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). 

Earlier, Kings' owner bid farewell to Babar who remained with them for the last six years.

"I am so glad that you were part of the Karachi Kings family for six seasons. Thank you and all the very best Babar Azam. Bus ab Karachi ke against cover drives na maarna," Kings' owner wrote.

According to the sources, Babar has been traded by Kings to Peshawar Zalmi in exchange for veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik.

Babar represented Islamabad United in the inaugural edition of the PSL. Before PSL 2017 players' draft, Babar was moved to Kings. Since then, he represented the Kings in six PSL editions and also captained the franchise this year.
