LAHORE: Sidra Amin made her career-best unbeaten 176, while Muneeba Ali notched up her maiden century to record a comprehensive 128-run win for Pakistan over Ireland to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday.
After Pakistan opted to bat first, Muneeba and Sidra scored 221 runs for the first wicket – going past their previous 158-run partnership which was made against Sri Lanka.
Sidra scored her and Pakistan’s highest individual score of 176. Her 151-ball unbeaten knock included 20 fours and one six and helped the home side reach 335 for three in 50 overs – beating their previous best of 280 which also came against Ireland.
In reply the visitors were bowled out for 207 in the last over. Ireland’s skipper Laura Delany top-scored with 69 off 92 balls.
For Pakistan, off-spinner Nida Dar was the most successful bowler bagging three wickets for 34 runs. Fatima Sana and Nashra Sundhu claimed two wickets apiece. Fast bowling all-rounders Aliya and Kainat Imtiaz took a wicket each.
Sidra was named the best player of the match for her magnificent knock.
Pakistan and Ireland will feature in the second ODI at the same venue on Sunday, 6 November.
