KARACHI: Midfielder Otis Khan is eager to represent the Pakistan national football team, which is returning to action for the first time in more than three years on November 16 against Nepal.

While speaking to geosuper.tv, Khan said that he is currently finalising his documents before joining the Pakistan team.

“The PFF has approached me and I’m currently working on documentation. I’m looking forward to making my Pakistan debut in the future I can’t wait to help,” the Manchester-born said.

The 27-year-old began his football journey at the renowned Manchester United academy, where he spent 10 years between 2002 and 2012.

However, he got the chance to make his professional debut, in 2014, after leaving for Sheffield United.

Khan currently plays for Grimsby Town, a club he joined in July earlier this year, in the third division of English football.

The wide midfielder joined Grimsby from Leyton Orient, where he scored once in 20 appearances during a six-month stint.

Before joining Orient, Khan also played for Walsall, Tranmere Rovers, Newport County, Mansfield Town and Yeovil Town.

Khan is eligible to play for Pakistan as it is the birthplace of his grandfather. He was also called up to play for the Pakistan team in January, 2015, in a friendly against Afghanistan, however he missed the match due to visa issues.

He was also picked for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches in March, 2015, but he decided against joining the Pakistan national side due to personal reasons.

It must be noted that Khan has made 246 appearances over the course of his club career, which includes 32 goals and 33 assists.

Earlier today, the Pakistan Football Federation also shortlisted 20 local players for the second phase of the men’s national team camp.

The PFF also confirmed on its social media platforms that “official squad for the Nepal tour will be announced soon”.
