BRISBANE: Shaheen Shah Afridi marked his return from a knee injury with impressive bowling figures against England in T20 World Cup 2022's warm-up fixture here today.

Shaheen, who had suffered Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) injury, played for the first time after recovering from injury.

While representing Pakistan against England, Shaheen held charge as an opening bowler and bowled with perfect line and length.

Off his first over, the left-arm pacer conceded just two runs. The pacer remained wicketless but maintained his economy at 3.5 by conceding just five runs in his next over.

Speaking about his performance today, Shaheen said he is determined to continue match-winning show in the mega event.

"I feel fresh to be back in the ground after two months. It was hard to remain away from the team for this much time. I got injured for the first time and felt really hard to live alone," he said.

"Now, I am back and really look forward to performing for my team in the world cup," he added.

The national pacer made a solid comeback ahead of the big game against India that is scheduled on October 23 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Shaheen remained out of cricket action since July 2022. He suffered a knee injury during the first Test of two-match series against Sri Lanka. The injury turned out to be serious due to which the pacer wasn't available for the ODI series against Netherlands, T20 Asia Cup 2022, home T20I against England and tri-nation series in New Zealand.
