SYLHET: India hammered Sri Lanka by 8 wickets to clinch their 7th Asia Cup here at the Sylhet International Stadium on Saturday.

Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first, which turned out in favour of India as they restricted Sri Lanka to 65 runs for 9 before chasing down the target in just 11.3 overs.

Smriti Mandhana was sensational yet again as she smashed an unbeaten 51 runs in 25 balls, including six boundaries and three maximums.

Opener Shafali Verma couldn't deliver with the bat as Inoka Ranaweera got the better of her after she scored five runs.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (11) and Smriti finished things off for India.

For Sri Lanka, Ranaweera and Kavisha Dilhari claimed a wicket each.

Earlier, a bowling masterclass from Renuka Singh helped India restrict Sri Lanka to 65 in 20 overs.

Renuka claimed three wickets while giving away only five runs in three overs bowled. Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Sneh Rana also managed to bag two wickets each.

Ranaweera was the top scorer for Sri Lanka, scoring 18 runs in 22 balls.
