MANCHESTER: The English midfielder Phil Foden has extended his agreement with Manchester City, keeping him with the team through 2027.

The previous contract for the 22-year-old was set to expire in 2024.

As one of City's most promising academy players, Foden made his professional debut in November 2017 and has since scored 52 goals in 182 games.

"It's hard to put into words how happy I am to have signed this contract," Foden said.

"It's a dream come true. I have been a City fan all my life. I've trained here for so many years and I've even been a ballboy. I love this club so much, so to know I am going to be a part of it until 2027 feels amazing," he added.

With City, Foden has won 11 trophies, including four Premier League championships, four EFL Cups, and the FA Cup. He has two goals in 18 appearances for England and has scored twice.

In each of the previous two seasons, he also took both the Premier League Young Player of the Season and PFA Young Player of the Year honours.

Foden credited City manager Pep Guardiola for his excellent improvement over the past five years after the Spaniard gave him his debut when he was just 17 years old.
