DUBAI: Indian replaced injured Jasprit Bumrah with Mohammad Shami for upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 which is scheduled in Australia from October 16 to November 13. 

On Thursday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the replacement of Bumrah. 

"The all-India senior selection committee has named Mohammed Shami as Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement in India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. Shami has reached Australia and will link up with the squad in Brisbane ahead of the warm-up matches," BCCI released in a statement. 

"Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur have been named as backups and will travel to Australia shortly," it added. 

Shami has played only 17 T20Is since making his debut in the format against Pakistan in 2014, but has a good ODI record in Australia, with 22 wickets at an average of 26.63. He was also the fourth highest wicket-taker in the 2015 World Cup.
