LAHORE: Shamyl Hussain starred as Gawadar Sharks beat Hyderabad Hunters in the fifth match of the Pakistan Junior League (PJL) at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on Sunday.

Sharks won the toss and opted to field first. Hunters posted a good 182 runs on the scoreboard, which the Sharks chased down in 19.5 overs, thanks to a sensational batting performance from the skipper.

Shamyl smashed 87 runs in 57 balls, featuring nine fours and three maximums to help his side reach the big total.

However, Ali Naseer delivered for the Hunters with wickets of Luc Benkeinstein and Danial Ibrahim, who scored 12 and nine runs, respectively.

Shamyl and Arafat Minhas put on a vital 110-run partnership after Saad Masood departed, scoring 20 runs in 14 balls.

For Hunters, Naseer and Muhammad Zubair Jr claimed two wickets each, while Muneeb Wasif secured a scalp.

Earlier, half-centuries from Saad Baig and Arbaz Khan helped Hunters post 182 runs in 20 overs.

The two opening batters were in fine touch as they build a 132-run partnership. Saad smashed 64 runs off 45 balls, while Arbaz managed to gather 61 runs in 41 balls.

After the departure of the opening duo, Naseer was sent back to the pavilion without scoring a run, while Afaq Khan, who gathered four runs, was sent packing by Shamyl through a run-out.

Moiz Rana scored 12 runs, while Hassan Iqbal bagged 18 runs.

For Sharks, Saad Masood claimed three wickets, while Arafat took a wicket.
