CHRISTCHURCH: Devon Conway and bowlers helped New Zealand thrash Bangladesh by eight wickets in the third T20I of the tri-nation series here at the Hagley Oval on Sunday.

The hosts won the toss and opted to bowl first, restricting Bangladesh to 137-8 before chasing down the target in 17.5 overs.

Devon Conway was sensational for the Kiwis as he smashed 70 runs in 51 balls, including seven boundaries and a maximum.

Skipper Kane Williamson scored 30 runs in 29 balls before getting out to Hasan Mahmud, while Glenn Phillips scored 23 runs in only nine balls. Phillips' short but interesting innings included two maximums and two fours.

For Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam and Mahmud claimed a wicket each.

Earlier, an outstanding bowling display from the Black Caps restricted the Tigers to 138 runs in 20 overs.

Najmul Hossain Shanto played a decent inning, as he scored an unbeaten 33 runs in 29 balls for his side, but he was sent packing by Ish Sodhi in the ninth over. Sodhi became the fifth bowler to take 100 wickets in Twenty20 internationals.

His opening partner Mehidy Hasan could only score five runs, while Liton Das gathered 15 runs before getting out to Tim Southee and Michael Bracewell, respectively.

Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan managed to bag 16 runs, while Nurul Hasan scored 25 runs.

Four Kiwi bowlers — Trent Boult, Sodhi, Southee, Bracewell — claimed two wickets each
