KARACHI: Pakistan skipper Babar Azam equalled Indian batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in a T20I record during Pakistan's six-wicket victory over New Zealand in the tri-nation series at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

Pakistan, on Saturday, beat the Kiwis by six wickets in their second match of the series, thanks to Babar Azam's 79-run knock, Shadab Khan's quick 22-ball 34, and an excellent performance by the bowlers.

On the way to the knock, Babar scored his 28th T20I fifty, levelling Kohli, who had also reached the 28th half-century mark in the same number of innings — 84.

It was also the 27-year-old's 12th half-century while chasing, equalling Indian captain Rohit.

In their T20 World Cup 2020 opener, Pakistan will lock horns with arch-rivals India at the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23.
