KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief selector Mohammad Wasim said former pacer Mohammad Amir never made himself available during his tenure.

In 2020, Amir unexpectedly announced his resignation from the national side, blaming the management of the Pakistani squad, which at the time featured bowling coach Waqar Younis and then-head coach Misbah-ul-Haq.

In an interview on a YouTube channel, Wasim said: "My work is to select from players who are available for selection. Unfortunately, Mohammad Amir never made himself available in my tenure."

"He has taken retirement, so I never talked about him. When he is not available, what can I say? The rest, who are available, we do talk about them and consider them. But there is no such policy," he added.

After declaring his retirement, the left-arm fast has been playing in various T20 competitions throughout the world. He last appeared for Pakistan in 2020. In the most recent Caribbean Premier League, he played for the Jamaica Tallawahs and won the title.
