LAHORE: An all-round batting and bowling performance by the Mardan Warriors batters and bowlers helped them secure an eight-wicket win over Gujranwala Giants in the Pakistan Junior League (PJL) opening match here at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on Thursday.

Warriors opted to field first and restricted the Giants to 132 runs before chasing down the target in 16.5 overs.

Opening partners, George Thomas and Shahzaib Khan were sensational today as they batted sensationally, scoring 50 and 45 runs, respectively.

Olly Cox scored 19 runs, while Abbas scored 10 runs to complete the run-chase.

For Giants, Mohammad Shan and Mohammad Ibtisam claimed a scalp each.


Earlier, a fighting knock from skipper Uzair Mumtar helped Gujranwala Giants post a paltry 132 runs on the scoreboard.

Both openers Azan Owais and Shevon Daniel couldn't deliver with the bat in the tournament opener as they were sent back to the pavilion after scoring seven and two runs, respectively.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Waqas scored 18 runs, while managed to secure 17 runs.

For the Warriors, Aimal Khan claimed three wickets, while Abidullah and Mohammad Nabeel bagged two wickets each.
