KARACHI: India faced a major blow ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, as their lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the mega event.
Bumrah sustained a back injury ahead of the Men in Blue's opening T20I of the three-match series in Trivandrum.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the news on Monday
"The BCCI Medical team has ruled out Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup squad. The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists," said the board.
The national cricket governing body also shared that it "will be naming a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the squad for the marquee tournament soon".
India will take on Pakistan in their opening clash of the much-awaited event at the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on October 23.
