Wasim Akram praises Pakistan's first world youth boxing champion Usman Wazeer
'We are very proud of you, whole country is so proud of you' says Wasim Akram
KARACHI: Pakistan's legendary cricketer Wasim Akram congratulated Usman Wazeer for becoming first-ever from the country to win world youth boxing champion title.
Usman, who won WBO World Youth title last month, lamented about lack of appreciation from his countrymen. He urged cricket legends Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar to come forward in his support.
In response to his appeal, Akram finally came up with not only an appreciation video but apologies too.
"Assalamualikum Usman Wazeer. Congratulations on becoming world champion. I am sorry, I got late to wish you. We are very proud of you, whole country is so proud of you, and we all are behind you. So, well done champ. Inshallah see you soon," he said.
Wazeer, also an Asian champion, beat his Thai opponent Somphot Seesa to win the WBO World Welterweight Youth title in Thailand.
