SEOUL: Having tested positive for COVID-19 while participating in Korea, British number one Cameron Norrie will not be competing at the Japan Open.

At the Korea Open on Friday, the 27-year-old withdrew from his quarterfinal matchup with American Jenson Brooksby.

Norrie is vying for a spot in the ATP Finals, which will conclude the season in Turin.

"Unfortunately, I had a positive COVID test in Korea and wasn't able to compete in the rest of my matches," Norrie wrote on Instagram.

"I have no symptoms and I am feeling 100% fine.

"I was really hoping to go to Tokyo but because of the quarantine period I will not be able to play there."

The eighth-ranked Norrie, who has two victories this year and debuted in the top 10, was scheduled to play Thanasi Kokkinakis of Australia on Monday at the Japan Open.

Norrie had the chance to gain ground in the Race to Turin standings at Korea and Japan Opens.
