England skipper Ben Stokes hit back at Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle, who criticised English media over Deepti Sharma's run-out of batter, Charlie Dean, during India's ODI victory over England at Lord's.

Deepti put an end to the third ODI by using the Mankad method to run Charlie out for 47, giving the visitors a 16-run victory.

The decision to run Dean out despite the ball not having been bowled, with the non-striker just leaving her crease and staring at the other end of the wicket when Sharma pulled off the bails, sparked outrage on social media.

The English all-rounder retaliated against Harsha Bhogle a day after the 61-year-old criticised the English media for promoting "vitriol" toward Deepti in a fiery Twitter thread.

Stokes disputed Bhogle's claims in his responses that the English criticising the running out of a non-striker for backing up too far could be a "culture thing."

"Harsha..2019 WC final was over two years ago, I still [to] this day revive countless messages calling me all sorts from Indian fans, does this disturb you? [sic]" Stokes questioned in one of his replies.

"Is this a cultural thing?? ....absolutely not, I receive messages regarding the overthrows from people all over world,as people all over the world have made comment's on the Mankad dismissal, not just people who are English," he continued writing in reaction to Harsha Bhogle's subsequent tweet.

It should be mentioned here that India won the three-match ODI series after Deepti's controversial run-out of Dean.
