SYDNEY: With an 83-61 victory over China, the United States clinched its record-extending 11th women's basketball World Cup title.
A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces led all scorers with 19 points for the reigning champs, and Kelsey Plum contributed 17.
The US had to work for it in the first quarter, but China slowed down and fell behind by 21 points in the third quarter.
They made a comeback in the fourth quarter, but the US held on to win their fourth straight World Cup.
At Sydney SuperDome, the final was played in front of 15,895 spectators, the largest crowd to ever watch a women's basketball game in Australia.
