LAHORE: Pakistan's middle-order batter Haider Ali was rushed to a hospital after he became ill shortly after Pakistan's defeat to England in the sixth T20I here at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on Friday.

Pakistan were handed an eight-wicket defeat by England in the sixth T20I to level the series at 3-3, thanks to Phil Salt's destructive batting, scoring 87 runs in 41 balls.

After the match, Haider was taken to a hospital.

"Haider Ali is feeling unwell. He has a viral illness and is being taken to the hospital for further check-ups. He will stay overnight in the hospital," the PCB said in a statement.

The board also shared that the squad will rest on Saturday, and no cricket activity is scheduled.

Haider is the second player who has reportedly fallen ill.

Earlier, Pakistan's star pacer Naseem Shah was diagnosed with pneumonia, following which he also contracted COVID-19.

However, the pacer was discharged from the hospital on September 29 and revealed on social media that he is "feeling better and recovering well".
