KARACHI: Denmark will wear "toned down" shirts at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in bid to draw attention to the host nation Qatar's record on human rights and treatment of migrant workers.

The third kit, which is all-black, was created by kit manufacturer Hummel to symbolise the "colour of mourning."

"This shirt carries with it a message," Hummel said on social media. "We don't wish to be visible during a tournament that has cost thousands of people their lives. We support the Danish national team all the way, but that isn't the same as supporting Qatar as a host nation."

The Denmark badge has also been "toned down" as part of the design. They will wear a simple red home shirt and an all-white second outfit while playing.

Sponsors of Denmark's training uniform will also remove their insignia to make place for criticism of Qatar.
