Abdullah Shafique off to a century start in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy

Aamer Yamin also stood out with his top-notch knock of 91 not-out

RAWALPINDI: Right-handed opener Abdullah Shafique scored his fifth First-Class century as Central Punjab (CP) scored 358-6 against Sindh in their first match of the season. 

Sent into bat first, CP lost a couple of quick wickets but Abdullah laid down a solid foundation for his side. The young gun showed solid fight and remained not out for 189 runs before umpires called for stumps. 

Aamer Yamin also stood out with his top-notch knock of 91 not-out. Aamer partnered with Abdullah to score 120 runs. 

The two batters put Sindh under pressure after their bowlers were up to a solid start. 

Mir Hamza started off the proceedings by bagging opener Abid Ali. Asif Mehmood broke the backbone of CP's batting by picking up three quick wickets. 

Asif bagged three wickets on day 1 while Mohammad Umar and Hamza shared a wicket apiece. 

Northern vs Southern Punjab

Abdul Faseeh scored 151 runs as Northern built a strong position against Southern Punjab (SP) on day 1 of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in Faisalabad. 

Magnificent Faseeh smashed 20 boundaries and four sixes to help Northern pot 379-4. Umar Amin made 89 runs off 184 balls followed by another top-notch performance by Mubasir Khan. 

The young all-rounder scored 74 runs off 121 balls including 10 boundaries.

Hassan Khan of SP bagged three wickets while Ali Usman took one. 

Balochistan vs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 

Abbottabad Cricket Stadium was also a batting paradise as Balochistan scored 324-5 against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). 

Mohammad Azeem Ghumman stood out with his 78 runs laced with six boundaries and a six. Abdul Wahid Bangalzai made 69 whereas Haseebullah remained not out for 32 runs. 

For KPK, Irfanullah Shah, Arshad Iqbal, Mohammad Sarwar Afridi, Ihsanullah and Khalid Usman bagged a wicket each.
