KARACHI: Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav surpassed Pakistan skipper Babar Azam to claim the third position in the latest ICC T20I batters rankings on Wednesday.

In the first match of their three-game series against Australia on Tuesday in Mohali, Yadav excelled with a polished 46 for India, which helped him move closer to Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan at the top of the T20I batter rankings.

The right-hander jumped in front of Babar, with Rizwan now just 45 rating points in front of him.

With a career-high total of 825 rating points, Rizwan maintains a narrow lead at the top of the rankings after scoring a half-century in Pakistan's defeat against England on Tuesday in Karachi.

Following a below-par performance at the Asia Cup and a return of 31 against England in their series opener, Babar moves to fourth in the most recent rankings.

Meanwhile, South Africa's aggressive batter Aiden Markram is placed second on the list.
