DUBAI: Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has apologised for dropping two catches and took responsibility for the T20 Asia Cup 202 final loss against Sri Lanka here at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday (today).

Sri Lanka posted 170 runs on the scoreboard before bowling out Pakistan in for 143 runs in 20 overs, thanks to Bhanuka Rajapaksa's 71-run knock and an exceptional bowling display by the bowlers.

Shadab dropped Rajapaksa twice, who then went on to score 71 runs in 45 balls. First, he dropped Rajapaksa at mid-off, and after that, he collided with Asif Ali, who was in a position to take the catch.

However, the 23-year-old has now apologised to the fans for letting his team down in the big final.

"Catches win matches. Sorry, I take responsibility for this loss. I let my team down," Shadab wrote.

"Positives for team, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Nawaz and the entire bowling attack was great. Mohammad Rizwan fought hard. The entire team tried their best. Congratulations to Sri Lanka," he added.

It may be mentioned here that Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup 2022 for the sixth after defeating Pakistan in the final today.
