Tony Ferguson to fight Nate Diaz at UFC 279 after Khamzat Chimaev misses weight

KARACHI: Tony Ferguson will face Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 279 in Las Vegas since Khamzat Chimaev failed to make the weight for their matchup.

Chimaez weighed more than seven pounds over the welterweight limit at 178.5 pounds (12st 11lb).

In the co-main event, the Swede will face Kevin Holland.

Li Jingliang, who was initially supposed to take on Ferguson, will now face Daniel Rodriguez, Holland's original opponent.

For his final battle in a 15-year UFC career, American Diaz weighed in at 171 lbs (12 st 3 lbs).

Chimaev weighed 178.5 pounds (12 stone 8 pounds), one pound less than Holland, whose original fight with Rodriguez was scheduled to take place at a 180-pound catchweight.
