KARACHI: Wesley Fofana has joined Chelsea on a seven-year contract from Leicester City for an estimated £70 million.
Under-21 international from France Since moving from French club Saint-Etienne to English club Leicester in 2020, Fofana has played in 37 Premier League games.
In the 2021–22 season, he was limited to just seven league appearances due to a preseason broken leg.
"The two last days have been really big for me and I'm very happy," he said.
"I trained this morning with the team and it's a dream for me. I'm very excited to start playing games for the fans and the club.
"I'm here to win trophies - the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, everything. I came here to win and the club is built to win trophies so I'm here to continue that."
He is the third-most expensive Premier League defender, behind Harry Maguire, who cost Manchester United £80 million in 2019 and came from Leicester, and Virgil van Dijk, who cost Liverpool £75 million in 2017.
After losing 2-1 to Southampton on Tuesday, their second defeat in the previous three games, Thomas Tuchel's team is now seventh in the Premier League.
