KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and contracted national players are on the same page over franchise leagues matter.

A PCB official told Jang that players will be compensated for losing a franchise league contract only when there is no national duty.

"PCB took players in confidence before raising their monthly retainers in the central contracts. Means, their priority is to play for national team," the official told this correspondent.

"If there is no national duty and still players lose franchise league contract, PCB will compensate the player only in this case," he added.

The official further said that PCB raised match fees in newly introduced contracts to boost the confidence of players. PCB raised match fees for players, who don't get a chance to play, from 50 percent to 70 percent. Also, PCB chairman Ramiz Raja approved appraisal of up to 25 percent for players in new central contracts.

On the other hand, PCB also increased an 'unrevealed amount' for players in their monthly salary. Last year, players in A category got a salary of PKR 1,375,000, PKR 937,500 in B category and PKR 687,500 in C category.

This year, players got contracts in red-ball and white-ball formats separately for the very first time. The decision was taken to keep players in confidence amid growing cash-rich franchise leagues around the world.
