Missed Neeraj Bhai, would have been a tough competition if he was there: CWG gold medalist Arshad

Gold medalist Arshad Nadeem thanked his family and Pakistani nation for their support and prayers

BIRMINGHAM: Pakistan's gold medalist in Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022, Arshad Nadeem said he missed his Indian counterpart Neeraj Chopra. 

During a conversation with Geo News right after his victory on Sunday, Arshad said Neeraj could have given tough time to him. 

"Obviously, I missed Neeraj Bhai. It would have been a tough competition if he was there," said Arshad. "I wish him a speedy recovery and looking forward to playing against him any time soon," he added. 

While talking about the historic victory, Arshad thanked his parents and Pakistani nation. "I am very honored and blessed to win this gold medal. I am really thankful to my parents and the whole Pakistani nation for their prayers. It wasn't possible without them," he said. 

"I was suffering from injury but Pakistan Sports Board and Pakistan Athletics Federation took complete care of me. They made it possible for me to contest in this competition,

"This is just a start. I am looking forward to continuing this performance for my country in the longer run," he concluded.
