BIRMINGHAM: Pakistan bounced back strongly to beat Scotland by 3-2 to keep their hopes alive to advance to next round in Commonwealth Games 2022.

After being defeated 4-1 at the hands of New Zealand, Pakistan made a strong comeback to beat Scotland in their third game.

Making a solid mark in the first quarter game, Scotland fell short before half-time. Cammy Golden made the most of a penalty corner to take 1-0 lead in just ninth minute of the game.

First quarter ended 1-1 in favor of Scotland. However, Pakistan resisted in second quarter and scored back-to-back goals to double the lead.

In 22nd minute, Afraz scored an equalizer followed by Abdul Shahid, scoring second goal in the next minute. Pakistan, thereafter, dominated second quarter and finished with 2-1 at half time.

Both teams counter attacked in third quarter but failed to score until Struan Walker scored an equaliser in 38th minute.

In 55th minute of the game, Rooman scored third goal and Pakistan held their nerves calm to seal a convincing victory.

With this victory, Pakistan are now ranked fourth with four points in pool A. South Africa (second position) and New Zealand (third position) also have four points.

Australia are leading pool A by winning both of their matches so far. Pakistan will next phase Australia in their last pool game on August 4.
