Pakistan badminton players shine in single's events in Commonwealth Games 2022

Mahoor Shahzad and Ghazala Siddique lost in women's double against Australian opponents

BIRMINGHAM: Pakistani badminton players shined and played well in their respective matches in Commonwealth Games 2022 on Wednesday.

Ghazala Siddique, who competed in Women's Singles on Wednesday, thrashed Vicky Chater of Falkland Island in the round of 64 match in two straight sets with scores of 4-21 and 3-21.

Meanwhile, Irfan Bhatti played his Men's Singles round of 64 match against Chongo Mulenga and won his match in two straight sets. Mulenga fought back in the second set after a heavy 21-6 defeat in the first set but was short of just two points as he ended the second set 21-19.

Whereas, in Women's Doubles round of 32, Mahoor Shehzad and Ghazala faced Australia's Chen Hsuan-Yu Wendy and Somerville Gronya. The Aussies duo beat their Pakistani opponents by 10-21 and 13-21.

Mahoor played his Women's Singles round of 64 match against Priyanna Devirani Ramdhani and showed great dominance over her opponent.

She beat the Guyanese by 10-21 and 8-21.

Lastly, in Men's Singles round of 64, Murad Ali clashed with Ghana's Dromo Tamakloe and he also trounced his opponent by 21-9 and 21-8.

All Pakistani badminton players will compete in round of 32 in single's category on August 3.
