KARACHI: Pakistan's World-cup winning captain Younis Khan stated that the national cricket team's management should support Azhar Ali and Fawad Alam despite their decline in performance.
Azhar and Fawad had an unfortunate series against Sri Lanka as both played a match each and couldn't perform well.
Speaking to local media, Younis urged the team management to back two players who have solid profiles.
"We need to back players like Fawad Alam and Azhar Ali. Fawad made an amazing comeback, but he is now out of form. The team management needs to support him at this time," said Younis.
The two batters struggled against Sri Lanka, as Azhar only managed nine runs in the first match, and Fawad only managed 25 runs in the second Test match.
It should be mentioned here that Younis is Pakistan's leading run-scorer in red-ball cricket, scoring 10,099 runs in 213 innings. While, in white-ball cricket, the 44-year-old amassed 7691 runs in 290 matches.
