KARACHI: After a bizarre injury stopped Tom Aspinall's battle with Curtis Blaydes at UFC London after only 15 seconds, he will undergo knee surgery.

The bout between advancing heavyweight Aspinall and stalwart challenger Blaydes last Saturday was gone in a matter of seconds when Aspinall blew out his knee after landing a leg kick.

Regarding his horrific injury, Aspinall released an update video and said: "I spoke to the surgeon, and we have a rough idea of what it is, but we are currently waiting for the swelling to go down. I will be having the MRI this weekend and having surgery early next week in London."

Aspinall also thanked the people who inquired about his well-being.

"Just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has reached out, obviously I've been offline and down in the dumps since Saturday night but hopefully we'll get it fixed and get the surgery early next week," he added.

After Aleksandar Rakic tore his knee in the main event of his fight with former 205-pound world champion Jan Blachowicz just a few weeks ago, Aspinall's injury was the second fight in as many months to be stopped due to a leg break.
