GALLE: Pakistan left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, who sustained a knee injury during the opening Test against Sri Lanka, will miss the second Test of the two-match series, scheduled from 24 to 28 July.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Thursday issued a statement, saying: "Due to a knee injury sustained on the fourth day of the first Test, Shaheen Afridi will miss the second Test.

"He will stay with the Test side in Sri Lanka, where his initial rehabilitation and management will continue under the supervision of the team’s medical staff."

Pakistan, on Wednesday, chased a record 342 target to beat Sri Lank, thanks to Abdullah Shafique's magnificent 160-run knock.
