NEWPORT: Alexander Bublik beat Andy Murray in the quarterfinals of the Hall of Fame Open to mark the end of Briton's grass-court campaign.
Bublik defeated Murray by 7-5, 6-4 in their fourth encounter of the year.
In the second set, Murray reversed an early break, but Bublik prevailed by winning four of the last five games.
Murray, who currently ranks 52 in the world, will play in the Citi Open later in July as part of his training for the US Open, which will begin at the end of August.
During the opening set, Murray tossed his racket into the net following a double fault, and the Kazakh world number 42 then received a key break thanks to Bublik's excellent backhand winner.
To start the second set, the two exchanged breaks, but Bublik ultimately triumphed.
